Bear Republic Red Rocket Ale

Style and Glass: American Strong Ale, Trappist; Snifter
ABV, Volume & Calories: 6.8 % in 22 fl oz. estimated at 300 C
Purchased at: Canal’s Lawrenceville for $1.66 ($19.99 for a 12 bomber case on special)

Aroma: nice, cocoa, heather, hay, flowers, leaves, musty, musk, dark roast malts.

Visuals: exciting packaging, like a lighter flavored chocolate stout, brown to black, fully opaque, staying rocky tan head, sticky intricate lace.

Taste: chocolate malts, more towards malt than hops, focyus on aromatic hops, some bittering hops finish, delicious.

Palate: milky, peppery carbonation, wash, surf, medium finish.

Overall: Amazing for the special price. I’ll have it about 11 more times at least. I’d like to pair it with something like pizza, broccoli, garlic chicken, soy, beans, lots of possibilities there.

He’Brew Bittersweet Lenny’s RIPA

Style and Glass: DIPA; snifter, tulip
ABV, Volume & Calories: 10% in 22 fl oz. estimated at 400 C
Purchased at: Super Saver, Pennington, NJ for $4.49

Aroma: nice, grapefruit, citrus, syrup, wheat, heather, rye.

Visuals: incredible packaging, ruby, blood moon, brilliant, long lasting white head, lace.

Taste: well balanced, heavy malt, high hops, high strength, syrup, rye bread, fennel seed.

Palate: high quality, sharp, crisp, spicy, long finish.

Overall: A fitting tribute to Lenny Bruce. What a wonderful brew! As a onetime practicing Catholic, I’m in awe of Judaism’s inspiration for this brewery. A definite repeat. A favorite. High value for high craft.

La Biere des Collines Hercule Stout

Style and Glass: Imperial Stout; Snifter
ABV, Volume & Calories:9 % in 11.2 fl oz. estimated at 200 C
Purchased at: Super Saver Pennington, NJ for $3.00

Aroma: amazing, chocolate, syrup, heather. 10 out of 10.

Visuals: beautiful design, deep brown, mostly opaque, thin white head, little lace. 3 out of 5.

Taste: unbalanced, mostly malt, little hops, low strength, medium craft. 6 out of 10.

Palate: lower quality, smooth texture, quick finish. 3 out of 5.

Overall: A real disappointment, more of a brown ale than an imperial stout, not a repeat, not a favorite, little value, medium craft. 15 out of 20.
