Aroma: nice, simple, citrus, light. 8 out of 10.

Visuals: interesting packaging, amateur, simple, dark copper, cloudy, bronze, no head, no lace. 4 out of 5.

Taste: dark barley, bitter, hoppy, good, strong, well crafted, chemical. 9 out of 10.

Palate: medium quality, smoother texture, long bitter finish. 4 out of 5.

Overall: Slightly different IPA flavor. I will be looking for this again, because of the relative value for price.  Somewhat well crafted, especially for the cost. 17 out of 20.



Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout

Aroma: nice, soft, coffee, chemical, spice. 8 out of 10.

Visuals: okay package, brown, translucent, little tan head, sticky lace. 4 out of 5.

Taste: medium balance, medium malt, medium hops, low strength, some craft. 6 out of 10.

Palate: medium quality, smooth texture, short finish. 2 out of 5.

Overall: More like coffee than stout, would not repeat, not a favorite, low value, low craft for lagunitas. 15 out of 20.



Weyerbacher 12

Aroma: weak, light, uninviting, lagerish, hay, grass. 4 out of 10.

Visuals: label design poor, presentation is okay, orange body, brilliant, long staying white head, nice lace. 4 out of 5.

Taste: sweet, artificial, chemical, nice hops, notable strength, medium craft, little balance. 8 out of 10.

Palate: lower quality, rough texture, chemical, acetic finish. 3 out of 5.

Overall: Not especially good, considering the price. I won’t have it again. Not a favorite. Not of high value.  Okay craft. 13 out of 20.



Flying Dog Horn Dog BWSA

Aroma is sweet and chemical. Deep ruby body with thin off white head and no lacing. Taste is dark, roasted, thinner than expected. Something in the finish is off. Texture is like a scouring pad. Not very smooth or luxurious like many other BWSA’s. A shame really. Not sweet at all, which is a relief, but the chemical flavor is very present.



Gouden Carolus Tripel

Aroma: inviting, banana, fruit, sweet. 9 out of 10.

Visuals: gusher, hazy, golden, beautiful, sunrise, thin, white head, nice lacing. 5 out of 5.

Taste: banana, some bitterness, dark, chemical. 8 out of 10.

Palate: biting, drying, sandy, woody, long finish. 4 out of 5.

Overall: Unique. Seems commercial for a Belgian offering, but not bad. It’s good, but I wouldn’t travel for it.  okay craft. 17 out of 20.

First Impression: An average IPA alike. Chemical flavors hurt the taste. Aroma is a spicy citrus. Visuals are a beautiful amber body below a bright white head with persistent lacing. Taste is hoppy, chemical, and a bit soapy. Palate is crisp, drying, and acetic with a long bitter finish. Second Impression – not a bad beer, except that it tastes unnatural – many better beers exist for this purpose (hop delivery).
