Weyerbacher Merry Monks

copper body, dull, good but fleeting head, very pretty, bronze, slick, chemical, medium body, relatively flat, sweet, high intensity, very sweet, nice, heavy bread feel, grain, nut, herbal, gentle moldy aroma, light crisp  finish, medium flavor, nice, well crafted.



Paulaner Hefeweizen

Somewhat watery, sandy. highly carbonated. short lived finish. Cloudy, with a nice head. pretty, golden. creamy. medium bodied, with lively carbonation. Banana, citrus, and spices. medium craft. Well done, if a bit weak.



La Chouffe Belgian Strong Ale

Aroma: sweet, banana, cloves, fruit. 9 out of 10.

Visuals: hazy, golden, thin white head, light lace. 4 out of 5.

Taste: classic Belgian, banana, fruit, clove, sugar. 10 out of 10.

Palate: wet, dusty, medium bittersweet finish. 5 out of 5.

Overall: A very good Belgian style. More balanced than Victory’s Golden Monkey. I’d look for it again. It’s well crafted, and very good. 17 out of 20.



McChouffe Belgian Brown

Aroma: typical brown ale scent. 7 out of 10.

Visuals: deep, brown, red, cloudy, light head, nice lace. 4 out of 5.

Taste: special, fruity, nice, sparkling fruit juice, some bitterness, dry. 10 out of 10.

Palate: dry, terrycloth, fruity, bitter finish. 4 out of 5.

Overall: Very much like seltzer and fruit juice. Refreshing. I like it, but it’s way too expensive. Not a favorite, but well crafted. 16 out of 20.
