First Impression: A nice ruby drinkable beer. Aroma smells just like a nice lager, but taste is much different. Lots of grain and herbs in the aroma. Visuals are all about the ruby — deep dark ruby body with explosively carbonated head to start, but dies down very quickly. Tastes much like a brown ale, but has nice raisin, licorice, and nut signatures. Palate is dark, and activates the entire mouth. Subtle and layered. Second Impression: This reminds very much of what a great grain inspired beer might achieve. I’m not that familiar with the style, and so I can’t speak unto its accuracy, but it is a very nicely done beer. Personally, I prefer a stronger style than this, like an imperial stout, double IPA, or a barleywine style ale, but as it is, it’s very good.

First: Very cluttered deposits, surely due to age. Does not hurt the taste very much if at all. In pouring, the color went from rather clear red, to a ruby, to an impenetrable dark brown. Head was fleeting at best, though hangs on to a thin film. Again, likely due to age. Notes of cherry, alcohol, nuts, yeast, and peach. A very layered set of flavors, and very nice. Hoppy and aromatic. Whiffs of dust and cardboard. Nice lacing. Palate is crisp, sandy, and subtle. Long lasting fruity finish. A very nice beer. I think that a fresher one will do even better.

Second A very good beer, though a fresher one would do better, I’m sure. Certainly worth its praise.

First Impression: Impressive in presence and aroma. Aroma is raisins, prunes, and cherries. Sour is the leading scent. Visuals are mostly deep red and ruby body with a thin tan head. Taste is amazing. Active all over the mouth. Sweet, sour, bitter, hoppy, fruity, toasted. Grapefruit, nuts, cherries, and alcohol dominate. Palate is crisp with a dry long, very enjoyable finish. Second Impression – really takes a hold of you and does not let go. A deep and hoppy experience. Delicious, and very good. This is only my second Great divide brew, but they are very clearly my favorite brewer.
