O’Hara’s Irish Stout

Filed under: Carlow, Dry Stout (English pint) | Tags: , , , ,

ABV: 4.3%
RateBeer rating: 72
Calories: estimated at 140 C
Volume: 12 fl oz

Glass: 6 oz wine
Purchased at: trade with Sean P. (thanks!)
Price: Oskar Blues Old Chub Scottish Style Ale
Consumed at: home

First Impression: Good color, nice head, aroma is soft and fleeting, taste is on the watery side. I prefer bolder stouts. Visuals are likely the best aspect – quite dark – good ruby depth and tan head. Taste is similar to water. Palate is fairly numb. Second Impression: Great visuals in head, body and lacing, but just pleasant in taste.

Aroma: 4 out of 10

Visuals: 5 out of 5

Taste: 4 out of 10

Palate: 1 out of 5

Overall: 13 out of 20

Glad you sampled one of the 4 I gave you! Looking forward to seeing how you rate the other 3.

Of the other 3 you traded (Harpoon UFO, Thomas Hardy Ale 2007, and Harbor Point Blueberry Ale) I think the Hardy will be the most rewarding. I hope you enjoy the Old Chub SSA – Oskar Blues is one of my faves – kind of pricey, but always worth it. I’ll have to pass you a Gordon and Ten Fidy sometime soon. Looking forward to your guest review here.
