Aroma: An amazing aroma of cocoa, sugar, chocolate, syrup, coffee, mold, and dust.
Visuals: Cans are beautful, rather unique for craft brew, and very welcome. It is darkness in a glass. It’s midnight. It eats light. It is black and fully opaque. The beautiful brown tan head is fluffy and lasting, and the lace struggles against the ABV, but is beautiful.
Taste: Like chocolate syrup, so very delicious. A chocolate milkshake. Over the top roasted malts and a bitter rich finish that is very much like espresso. Absolutely delicious.
Palate: Starts sweet and with a heavy gravity, middle is dark and roasted with a satisfying bitter finish. Great for a hop head like me, but soothes my imperial cravings as well.
Overall: An amazing, if expensive, brew. Worth every penny. Dark chocolate, espresso, and syrup, you just can’t beat it.

sensory first impression: Nice rippled creamy head. Beautiful color — off white head on a golden, amber, brown, varied body. Clear, bright sparkling. Hoppy aroma and wonderful flavor of pine and citrus.
Aroma: 10 out of 10
Spicy, coriander, Pine, Grapefruit, sludgy texture, clay, flowery.
Visuals: 5 out of 5
Amber, brown, golden, variant body with long lasting head of off white. Nicely laced.
Taste: 10 out of 10
heavy malt overtones, slightly sweet aftertaste, very hoppy bitter presence, sour in after taste.
Palate: 4 out of 5
Body is medium-full. Mouthfeel is clay and mold. Texture is dull, but wonderful. Carbonation is visually present, and active. Finish is long, sweet, sour, and deep.
Overall experience: 18 out of 20. I liked the uniquity of the canned delivery, the surprise of the quality, the aroma, the color, and the flavor.

Impression: Deep dark ruby brown. Rich. tastes of chocolate, coffee, and smoke in a slightly thin base, but not badly so. Visually stunning. Head starts off tannish brown and thick, but reduces to a wispy foam with little head on a sometimes brown, sometimes deep ruby body. Palate is slightly thin, but likely in keeping with the style. I’m not that familiar with Scotch Ale. A very nice color and aroma, and the alcohol is hidden well. Not nearly as rich as a chocolate or coffee stout, but certainly a drinkable, worthy ale.

Overall: 15 out of 20 I liked the dark rich color, the chocolate aroma, and the relatively reasonable price per can for an Oskar Blues beer. Dale’s Pale Ale can go for upwards of 4.50 per can.

Impression: Aroma is overwhelming and richly hoppy. Beautiful yellowy head is bulbous and frothy atop a deep amber, deep red, almost sunburst body. Very clear. Good lacing. Carbonation is visible, threaded, present. Pine scent is thick. Taste does not disappoint. Oily texture and muted dry finish are wonderful. The flavors include the piney, citrusy hops. A syrupy depth, a bit cloying. Well balanced between alcohol, sweetness, hoppiness, and maltiness. More toasted than roasted. What an amazing beer.
